Think Again and Soul411.com are for everyone who is a “student of truth”. There is a movement in this country (and around the world) that is changing the way mankind views spirituality. People are using their own minds to discover spiritual truths, as opposed to taking other people’s (Doctors, Scientists, Preachers) words for it. For most of us, the science and spiritual world have always been split. Twenty years ago, most scientists would probably say they didn’t believe in God, of course, because they are scientists. Also, most western doctors would say “don’t count on a miracle, take your prescription”. In The Truth Movement, people aren’t afraid to look past science, religion, and politics in their search for God.
Scientists and doctors can use science and medicine but we can also use our minds and combine the two to create ‘spiritual medicine’. If we mix medicine with the Metaphysical, or the mind, we will achieve greater results. For instance, why do two patients with the same affliction have different results with their treatments? I believe it’s because of their state of mind. The patient who accepts and believes his treatment is working becomes “well” much more quickly than the patient who continues to ‘claim’ he is sick, fears he won’t recover, and/or desires the sympathy of others.
Why the name Think Again?
We’ve all encountered someone in our lives who tried to force their opinions and beliefs on us: parents, family members, preachers, teachers, politicians, or friends. We owe it to ourselves to stop and think about what direction, method, or beliefs resonate with us.
I consider myself to be an open-minded and free-thinking Christian; that is, I don’t need someone to tell me what to think about God. I believe God is within us and is an individual relationship. If someone tells me what to believe and how to believe it, I get very nervous about that person. Just as we shouldn’t choose a life partner based on a first glance, we probably shouldn’t look to the flashy televangelist to tell us what our spiritual journey should look like or implicitly trust our doctor-in-bed-with-pharmacist.
Hope vs. Faith
1 Corinthians 13:13 says, “In the end, there are three things that last; Faith, Hope, and Love, and the greatest of these is Love.” This is true because Love is unconditional and unlimited. But, which of the other two is ‘second-greatest’? I choose Faith. Don’t get me wrong. It’s okay, and even good, to have hope, but for the purposes of my argument, Hope is a wish and Faith is belief. You can hope you win the lottery, hope it doesn’t rain, hope you get a promotion, and hope you meet Miss or Mr. Right. The problem with Hope is, “Hopes get dashed”! But if you BELIEVE you will have a more rewarding job, a more fulfilling relationship, a happier family life, a healthier body, or in total, a better life, then it will be so!
I always say, “If you believe it, it’s true.” As an avid golfer, I’ve encountered every personality trait on the golf course, so it’s easy for me to use golf in making a point. If a golfer says or thinks, I hope I don’t hit it out of bounds, I hope I don’t hit it in the water, or I hope I don’t pull this putt, guess what? Something bad is just about to happen!
Golf tournament winners don’t believe they’re going to lose or they wouldn’t win.
If someone tells me something is impossible, then it is…to them! I can be a bit of a chameleon, and people’s moods can rub off on me, so these days I try to surround myself only with people who believe that everything in their world is possible!
